Hi All:

For anyone who is interested Content Paradise:

www.contentparadise.com

Is giving away Poser 5 for free. You may have to join their site, but I think it's worth it if you're looking to create your own characters. Just a thought.

I downloaded Poser 6 demo but found it a bit complicated. I like DazStudios myself. I'm hoping that Poser 5 will have a better manual than the 6 demo. I hate going on sites like Daz, CP etc. I see so much I want to buy, but so much  so little cash.

It doesn't make sense that they would put out a product and not give you a proper manual to show you at least what all the weird dials are for. I was almost beating my head against the wall trying to get the arms of a shirt to move where I wanted them. What a pain in the neck.  I found it much easier to create the figure in Daz and then bring it into Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro to dress them up. I guess they figure if you at least know Poser 1 you should be able to go from there. But I'm like trying to explain something to Homer, I need a sock puppet show to catch on.

in theory you create the figure(figure1) then go to the shirt remembering to select button(create new figure) then go the "figure" on the top bar, select "conform to"
select figure1 and click ok
what i hate most is if you cock up big still you can't undo
if you want to do poses make sure its figure1 thats selected otherwise you end up with clothes in strange places!
if you move the arms or legs use the dials rather than dragging the body parts, if it looks wrong just rest them to 0

he was done in poser/PSP7

Wow, Paranoia, that's pretty cool. Thanks for the info. I'm limited to what I can do on this computer at the moment. If it requires any amount of memory at all I'm finished. This thing locks up big time now. I'm almost afraid to do anything on it. So what I am going to try to do is work on my sceneries, then my characters.  It's so frustrating when you put so much time and work into something and have to do it all over again. Such is computer life I guess. I don't know if you seen my other message but the avatar I made myself with Daz and Photoshop. The old looking hag at the bottom is Victoria 3. Actually those two were created by fluke. I just started moving dials and that's what I came up with. Thanks again.

i'm cursed with a slow graphics card, so i can only do the basics with Poser, its an old ATI thing and it just couldn't handle DAZ! The pic is Michael
the worst thing about using Poser characters in games made with AGS etc is you have to turn the anti alias off otherwise you end up with a horrible halo around the character, it also means hair has to be very simple otherwise you end up spending days trying to fix it

great looking pic StarLite :great:
if you ever want any help with the basics in poser let me know, i also know a guy who's a wizard wth it if you want to go into it deeper

Paranoia, you sound like you're having the same problem as I am with your computer. Thank you for the compliment and offer of help. Here are some pics from the game, if I ever get it done. If you'd like to have a look.

The long dress on the alien is from Serge Marck and the tattoos on the aliens heads are  Photoshop brushes by Stephanie at Obsidian Dawn. I know they're not as good as most of the Poser and Daz work I've seen but I don't think they're too bad. The first pic is done on Photoshop, it's supposed to be part of a dream. I hope this doesn't take up too much space, I've never done this before.

Thanks for the compliment ad7venture. I'm always leary about putting up pics, I'm always afraid they're not good enough.  Glad you like them.

the characters look great :great: and the top picture does have dream like qualities
its good to post art work from games , more often than not the feedback is good and its a good way to get spurred on if your getting bogged down a little.
constructive criticism helps as people often pick up on things we miss or stuff that simply doesn't work
have fun with the project, if it gets to much or start losng your temper with it, walk away for awhile Wink

Thanks Paranoia. You're right about the walking away. It's either walk away or pull my hair out, walking away doesn't hurt so much. It took me two days to try to figure out how to put a balcony on my hotel.

I don't mind honest critism, if it wasn't for someone being honest this game would be sitting in a folder.  When I first wrote it I knew nothing about making games so offered it to anyone who would just give me credit for writing it. Two people looked it over, the one person wasn't interested and the other person whom I am greatful for his honesty told me what was wrong with the story. So I worked on it some more and came up with a better ending. I was so heart broken that no one wanted the story so my husband told me, "do it yourself." I never in my wildest dreams thought I could ever make a game, well I haven't yet, but I sure learned alot and the learning process was worth it.

I hope when it gets done at least one person will like it then it will all be worth while. The people on this site have been great with their help and encouragement, and for that I thank everyone. :great:

Well I'm outta here, take care for now. Enjoy the pics

Hi Everyone:

This is the title screen to my game if anyone is interested in having a look.

I'm thinking of using the eclipse as a verb coin. Enjoy

This is much better I think. Thanks again.
