I have installed a spam filter on the forum powered by a widely used and valued service, so I'm confident this will stop the spam we've been receiving the last couple of months.

In the unlikely event your message is incorrectly identified as spam, please send me a PM.

And, did it already help to reduce the spam?

Oh yes. I don't need to manually remove messages and users on a daily basis anymore. Sometimes a spammer slips through, but it's sporadic.

The filter has currently captured 67 spam messages since its installation.

Yeah, I'm happy with it.  Grin

I was planning to make the move to SMF since it appears to have less spam than phpBB (which is downright horrible; every single day I must delete 2-3 bots).

Erwin, can you tell which is that extra module that you're using? Thanks!

Oh! I use that on my Wordpress blog. It's incredibly effective, didn't know there was a module for SMF. Cool!

Please consider using the StopForumSpam mod. The spammers are killing this forum Sad

I've implemented the StopForumSpam mod. It should block bots from registering accounts. Thanks for the tip, Mnemonic!

Since this mod conflicts with the Re-Capcha verification mod, I have returned to using standard verification.

Damn, the spambots are still hammering the forum Sad That's bad. A temporary measure might be moving the forum to another directory (preferably something not called "forum" or "forums" or "smf"), but I'm afraid it's only a matter of time until the bots find it again.
