Well, TCN has shut down. Too bad it had to end this way. I have seen this happen before with other sites. A simple post gets started, spins out of control, the weird ones close in like sharks after bloody meat...
It ends up with the site moderator losing all interest in working to keep the site running, so they close it down. I mean, where is the fun in working your ass off during your own off time, and getting hateful posts like the ones over at TCN.
There is a moral or lesson there somewhere, but I can

Brilliant material for my blog... Ooh, what an opportunist I am.
Very sad to see TCN go. I actually liked people having the ability to choose. Also, Prisma seems to have a lot of self-insight, seeing the pic of the day and the text beneath it: "I

Okay everyone. I've got two words for all of you.
1)Calm
2)DOWN!
I've been following this through AD and TCN. And I think what we really and desperately need is for everyone to take a look at what they're saying.
You are whining and arguing about something that's done and over with. Trumgottist has made his decision. Certain people said certain things. No amount of quoting or typing in capital letters is going to make anyone say "Yeah, you're right. I lose, you win."
Really, what do you think will be accomplished? Anyone on ANY side of this hissy fit? Is it going to make either site better? Is it going to force Trumgottist to want to run TCN again? What are you trying to do? All I'm reading anymore is random arguements that don't have any real goal. All I'm getting is that you want people to take sides. And I'm sorry, Prisma, but mostly you're the one that is putting out that vibe. You seem to feel that either one must SUPPORT TCN WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND SOUL HOORAY! or be an evil villain who spends all their free time thinking of ways to destroy TCN. Wormsie, you aren't helping. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Prisma, as you said Erwin can speak for himself. However, Trum can speak for himself, too. Both of them have said what they feel needs to be said. If they think anything needs to be added, they'll add it. They're big boys, they don't need champions to come and save them.
If you're going to be civil and can stop attacking individuals, argue away. But if you're going to get nasty, take it into private messages. That's what they're for.

This will probably be my first and last post on this site. Since I started the post, I suppose I should say something. I have no idea what any of the replies were, because I never went back after making the post. I became discouraged because there are so few people interested in making a comment, yet so many making a game. It takes about a minute to comment and everyone knows that. That leaves the probablility that they're so full of themselves they can't be bothered talking to anyone lower than them. They're just interested in selling they're game. I don't mean selling in the profit type of way. If you want to use an animal farm analogy, I would call most adventure game writers the pigs. I enjoyed spending time talking to Prisma, Trum, Friar Phil, and the Police guy from Ireland who's name escapes me right now. I intend to keep working on my game, but from now on I'll be a jerk like most of the rest of adventure game writers and not bother supporting any site other than eventually advertising my game. Aside from the people that support this site on a regular basis, I think you can all take a hike. I'm sure your games will be as stale as you are.

It's not my nature to be nice to people who call me a pig.

Uncalled for? I don't think so. With all respect to ad7venture I found his post outright offensive and over-generalizing. I didn't know it was mandatory for game designers to post at all the adventure development related forums out there. I thought the point of TCN was the game database and the news section. The forum was just a bonus, no one can force anyone into posting there, can they? After all, TCN existed without the forum for a long long time.
Not talking to anyone lower than them? The Animal Farm's pig analogy? What the hell are you talking about, ad7venture? Are you trying to say all the TCN visitors not replying to your posts at TCN forum are therefore selfish and bigheaded and don't support the website enough? Now THAT was uncalled for...

this sucks. i was looking forward for over 4 years now to upload my game to The Crows Nest someday in the future. It was on my list of things to do to help build publicity. I really liked TCN.
