There is now a new version of SLUDGE available. The following are the changes since 2.0. This once again brings us to a state of no known bugs, so if you find one, please let us know so that we can fix it!

Engine (all platforms):

  • Bugfix: Large scenes would become corrupted when saving a game. (This was a bug I accidentally introduced to 2.0 while working around the bug with old ATI cards. Sorry, Deirdra.)
  • Changed the default logo shown in the startup screen to a new one made by Erwin Broekhuis.

Development Kit (all platforms):

  • Multiple sprites can now be added at once in the Sprite Bank Editor, and hotspots can be changed for a range of sprites at the time. (link)
  • Changed the logo in the documentation to a new one made by Erwin Broekhuis.
  • Bugfix: The compiler could crash on certain errors.

Development Kit (Linux/Windows):

  • Bugfix: Fixed some crashes that would occur if the dev kit was compiled differently. (link)

Another small change for Linux users is that menu entries for the Dev Kit programs according to the freedesktop.org standard are created during installation.

I can't update the homepage at the moment, because Sourceforge got attacked and had to shut down several services (link). For the same reason the online documentation doesn't work, but the documentation is also included in the downloads.

When I try to extract the file, Archive Utility says "Operation not permitted". I downloaded it twice.

Okay, somehow i can't download the full file (only 46 kb) . I'll try another mirror or browser.

There are no alternative mirrors. Tried another browser without luck as well. Maybe you need to upload it again, Trum. Does it work for others?

Seems like Sourceforge is having a hard time. I had the same problem when downloading the Windows engine for including it in the Dev Kit package. I succeded when I used wget for the download, it loaded the file in 20 small chunks, because that's how often the Download got disrupted. So use a download manager or wait until Sourceforge have overcome their problems.

Same thing's happening to me, Erwin.

As BigMc said, it's due to the attack on SourceForge. https://sourceforge.net/apps/wordpress/sourceforge/2011/01/27/sourceforge-net-attack-update/

Quote
CVS, ViewVC, file release uploads, and interactive shell services are still disabled while we do the work to make sure our servers and services are hardened against future attacks like this.

All in all we’ve made a lot of progress, and expect to have more detail to report tomorrow.

I'll check the downloads once they've resolved the problems.

I used my standard wget to grab the file and it disrupted a few times.  But due to the resume function of the command I was able to get it.

Excellent tip! It took quite a lot of resumes, but wget managed to grab the file. Thanks.

I can't understand why people would target SourceForge, by the way. This really pisses me off.

Actually on the 27th Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin (December 2010) there was (as every year) a talk where they tried to predict possible security topics in 2011. Attacs on big source hosting sites like SourceForge was one of their predictions, because they host so much code that attacking them and trying to creep in backdoors in hosted programs gets attractive.

Grumble. Let's attack the open source community, now that in itself is just plain wrong.
