The new SLUDGE homepage is online at http://opensludge.sourceforge.net! Including all the relevant SLUDGE content from hungrysoftware.com and more. Discuss!

Great work!

I don't like your changes to the logo, and I suspect that locking the menu in place could cause problems on small screens, but other than that I think it looks great. (Maybe some texture to the brown background, too?)

And one minor issue:

On the games page, I think the "last modified" thing is confusing. It gives the impression that that's the date the game was last updated, and that's not true. Maybe change it to the release date for released games, and something else for the others, or just make it more obvious that the date refers to when the database entry for the game was changed. This probably applies to the "Resources" page too. Maybe just moving the "last modified…" thing to the bottom, after the link, and changing it to "Entry last modified…" would be enough.

Great! I like the minimalistic design. I also think Trumgottist points will improve the site even further.

Good job!

Thanks! I'll do something about the dates, but what do we do with the logo? I don't like the old one, especially because it doesn't fit together with the SLUDGE face logo. Did you create the face? In that case you could take the svg I uploaded to svn and add a similar structure. I don't know how to do that. If not, who created it?

The menu isn't locked in place on handhelds and the locked version needs a height of 500px to make no problems. It's just that it's much more useful this way.

I'm not sure about texture for the background yet. I think it defeats the minimalistic design (yes it's intended).

Yeah, I did the logo and the other icons as well.

I'll see if I can create a title image that fits the logo better.

Nice! That's the vectorized version of the logo I talked about:

Only the links to forum and documentation are intended to open a new window. Do the others also do it in IE?

EDIT: I removed the opening of new windows for these two links, made the menu stick to the page and added "entry" to the "last modified" information.

New logo proposal. What do you think?

(I have a hi-res version as well, of course)

Cool,  like it very much!   Smiley

I would happily take this one, but if you want to tweak it some more, my comment is that you could try to increase the deepness, it looks a little bit flat, because the gradients at the edges are quite narrow and sharp. Maybe make the gradients smoother. Maybe add contours between the characters. I don't know if that could improve it further.

Thanks.

Tobias, I'll send you the final version when I'm done. I'll also send you the PSD's for the icons you asked for. First I'll need to do some housekeeping on the layers of these PSD's, because it's quite unorganized atm.
