310x88 is the size of the image in the startup window in the engine.

EDIT: Now that the logo has structure I also carried out your idea with the background structure.

Your image is now in the startup window on both Win and Mac. (Is in SVN and will be in 2.0.1.)

Because I don't consider it necessary and don't really want to have a whole GUI toolkit as dependency of the engine just for the startup window.
