I just installed the game. I noticed two issues:

Under Windows XP Professional SP3 the game unexpectedly quits after displaying the "Trumgottist Entertainment proudly presents..." screen with no indication of what the problem might be.

Under Windows 7 Ultimate (same computer, I use dual boot) the game seems to work fine, but I hadn't installed Adobe Acrobat Reader so that I read the manual. When I tried to open the help from the game's menu, all the game did was switch from full screen mode to a window. I got no error message. (Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader fixed the problem though.)

I'm not sure what to mention about my system specifications. so if you want to know something specific about hardware/software/drivers, let me know.

Any way, it will be nice to play the game and have a look at the improvements.

Thanks for letting me know about the problems.

I should have added an error message if no PDF viewer is available. I guess I didn't think that would happen. Silly me.

But the crash is more worrisome, since that's a problem at the engine level. Even before the title screen, you say? That's a bit odd, as nothing interesting is happening yet. Do you have updated drivers for your graphics card, and what graphics card do you have?

I know from my own programming experience it can be hard to determine what kind of errors can occur and how they should be dealt with.

Any way, I have a ATI Radeon HD 4350 video card. The driver is from 3-2-2009. Version 8.582.0.0.

I'm going to check whether there are new drivers available.

I just updated my video driver to version 8.7230.0 (6-4-2010.) This fixed it. But I'm curious as to what the actual problem was.

Your old drivers could probably not communicate with a more recent version of something graphics related that SLUDGE is using. Still strange, because as I understand it SLUDGE doesn't use all the latest bells and whistles that come with the most recent implementation of OpenGL 3.x.

Good to hear that the driver update fixed it. Then I can think of it as an ATI bug and worry no more.

I had the exact same problem as Peter. I guess I must update my drivers then.

Trum, your game is adorable, but hard.   Wink

(Just FYI, it's running very smoothly on my 32bit W7 set up with a GeForce 8800.)

Did it help?

I went on holidays back then, never noticed your question and never answered.

Unfortunately, no it didn't - neither Frasse nor (as you already know) Life Flashes By work on my computer. Sad

And (as you already know - news are in your mail), I may have found a workaround to let the game work with ATI's buggy drivers for their older cards.
