Hello fellow creators

Well I've decided to start making a game pack for people just starting out learning to make adventure games. Here is a living room. If anyone can use this go ahead and grab it. I am going to try to add a piece to the pack when I got spare time.

There will be rooms, characters, items, objects etc. Whatever I can figure out that is needed in making a game for the beginner. If you can think of anything that could go into a room like this let me know. I may just also make the room bare so people can add their items to it. Hope you like it. Enjoy and happy creating  Smiley

cool idea  Grin

If I was doing it as a scene, I would hide everything but the foot stool and table and render them out as a PNG.. most software will ignore the background colour to give transparancy, then its easy to use those items as walk behinds Wink

That's worth doing StarLite.

Do you feel game packs are better than tutorials?  Have you had much feedback from people starting on the long winding road of game development?

Good day all,

The scene is basically just a walk around. You could interact with the bookcase to put books in or the end table on the right to put something on to look at. I'll be making empty rooms to put objects in. I'll also be showing rooms and objects at different angles.

Hey Kickaha,

I decided to do this pack based on my own experience. Also, I've noticed that even recently people who say they would love to make a game but couldn't draw and that's what put them off. So just imagine the good games we've lost just based on that premise alone. I've also heard beginners ask, "is there a pre made graphic pack that I can download anywhere, well now there will be. The graphics are not great or commercial grade but it will serve it's purpose for those who are just starting out.

This pack can be brought into any 2D engine, so the beginner is not limited.

Also Kickaha, tutorials are fine if you have a good brain unlike mine. But majority of times the beginner doesn't want to be bothered with tutorials right from the start. So this pack will give them something to work with and hopefully they'll get a taste for wanting to design their own work.

I know that some people are going to think that Roanoke is a piece of garbage, which I don't care. Four people already like it and as far as I'm concerned that alone is worth the effort.

I hope someone will get some use out of this game pack, and again that will make it all worth while. Signing off, happy creating everyone  Smiley

Don't put yourself down StarLite.  We have different talents.  For me tutorials are a good starting point.

There are people out there who will put you down no matter what you do.

That's a good attitude.  It's nice when a game becomes popular, but mostly as an amateur, we do these things because we need to do something creative and share it with a few people.  There's all kinds of social sites, etc, but for me, I like sharing something I did creatively rather than just trying to see how many people I can get on my friends list.  Sites like this are the same way for me.  I get nervous when I try to make small talk, but it's fun to talk about a common hobby.

Hey guys, thank you for the support. That's what I like about you guys, you always know how to pick me up when I'm feeling in the dumpster.

I'm just down right now because I had lost 28 lbs and went up 7lbs over night, so it's getting me down.

On the plus side, I am doing very well with Roanoke. I made it to 15th century Roanoke village, which is quite an achievement. I never thought I would make it that far. Still working out some bugs, but as soon as I get onto the spaceship that should be about near the end of the game. Geez, I'll be glad when it's done. Hopefully I'll get some good work done on it tomorrow. Wish me luck

If anyone is interested in having a look I've updated my Site Links area with a list of goodies I found over at MovieStorm.

I found that Vue 7 is available for free download, there is a link for it there. I also stumbled onto a program called Albatross 3D that someone might find useful here is the address:

http://ppmodeler.com/

It sounded interesting. If anyone gives it a try let us know what you think. Well I'm off, take care fellow creators and happy gaming.  Smiley
