Argh! I have a very annoying problem. I don't know the English word for a certain object, and I can't look it up in the dictionary because I don't know the Dutch word for it either.

Argh!

I'm talking about one of those 'binoculars on a pole', if you know what I mean. Usually found at tourist attractions. You drop a quarter in it, and you can enjoy the view. How do you call these things!?

Funny, I scoured the web trying to find the name of those things for a previous project and I never did find an answer!  To this day it hanuts me so I'll be watching to see if anyone knows.

mounted viewscopes

The view and access to the area shown below is all free but those mounted viewscopes will cost you dearly.

Edit: Beaten. That sounds about right.

Thanks candle!  :great:

Can I call it a "viewscope" too? I mean, is it common?

In Gabriel Knight, they are simply called "binoculars".

I suddenly remember Sam and Max has one as well... In that twine restaurant. (Oh my, I'm not really original with this, eh?)

I think I'll install it and see what it's called there.

A Google image search on viewscope turned up much more correct results than binoculars, so I guess it's the best description so far Wink
