Adventure Developers was launched in early 2001, a time in which the adventure genre was pretty much lying on its back. Leading developers had lost all interest in developing the games, and publishers were convinced there wasn't a market for them anymore.

It was also around this time that adventure fans started making their own games, using game engines that seemed to emerge out of nowhere. And that number of people has been increasing rapidly over the past few years. We've seen very interesting projects being developed by independent studios, sometimes funded by small publishers. Fans have been creating their own hobbyist game projects, some good, some bad, some finished, many abandoned. The number of authoring tools continues to grow, even today.

We're here to tell you about the interesting games and developing projects that continue to appear. We're a source for news, and a community to discuss games, projects and game development topics. Our forums are available for independent and hobbyist developers to promote their work, ask for help, find members for their teams, and more. We also try to be a resource for developers by publishing articles, tutorials, and other features, sometimes written by recognized industry professionals.

In short: we're a place for those who're interested in playing (independently developed) adventures and for those interested in developing their own games.

We wish all of you a pleasant stay.
